Officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) began an investigation on the night of Saturday to Sunday after the discovery of a body in the suitcase of a car damaged by flames in the borough of Rivière-des- Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles.

Emergency services were alerted around 12:50 a.m. to a burning vehicle at Parc-nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies, located on boulevard Gouin, not far from the Pointe-aux-Trembles station. Police discovered the body after the fire was completely brought under control.

A security perimeter was erected through Pointe-aux-Prairies Park to better understand the circumstances of the event. An autopsy will be done to determine the identity of the individual. An expertise will also be carried out on the vehicle.
