He was fishing with his friend at the edge of a private lake at "Les Bucheries", a town in Montemboeuf. The witness witnessed his 75-year old friend fall into the water at just before 11:30 AM Saturday morning.

Chasseneuil's firefighters, La Rochefoucauld, received reinforcement from the nautical rescue of Angouleme and intervened quickly. The Smur was also there. They could not revive the fisherman.

If the accidental cause appears privileged, an inquiry has been opened. A body examination has been requested by the Angouleme prosecution. These investigations should allow them to establish the cause of death with certainty.
