Minute of silence in all Talavera Management centers against the attack on 4 toilets

The Talavera de la Reina Integrated Care Management has convened for this Monday, May 30, at 10 a.m., a minute of silence at the main door of all health centers for professionals to express their rejection and demand greater security in work centers. The call is made after the aggression suffered by four health professionals by a patient during a home visit in the Toledo town of Santa Olalla, as this newspaper has been reporting.

Two of them, a doctor and a nurse from the Emergency team of the Santa Olalla Health Center, went to a home on Calle Castilla-La Mancha where a 31-year-old patient was waiting for them, who, despite the fact that the notice reported that who was unconscious, began to beat them after resuscitation practices.

Both were transferred to the Virgen del Prado de Talavera hospital, where the doctor was treated for "bruises", while the nurse had no injuries.

After filing the corresponding complaint with the Civil Guard, the patient was arrested for an alleged crime of assault on authority, although the episode did not end there.

Later, when the mobile ICU team arrived from the town of Escalona, the patient also tried to attack the doctor and the driver of the vehicle, although neither of them required hospital care. Together they managed to reduce the patient and sedate him.

All professionals have filed a complaint, both those of the Talavera Management and that of Urgencies and Emergencies. In addition, as in all these cases, Sescam has offered legal assistance to all of them.

Attacks on toilets have increased during the two years of the coronavirus pandemic in Castilla-La Mancha. During 2021, there were 560 episodes of these characteristics against Sescam professionals, of which 497 were verbal and 13 physical attacks.

In Santa Olalla it is not the first time that events like these have occurred, such as those that occurred in October 2018 within the health center itself. The aggressors were the relatives of a patient and the victim was a seriously injured doctor with a bruise on his cheekbone and a damaged cornea.

More recently, a doctor on duty at the Buenavista Health Center in Toledo and a nurse were attacked by the father of a patient when they came to his home on May 5.
