The Neubrandenburg Dreikönigsverein is once again awarding the Siemerling Social Prize, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. Proposals for the oldest social award in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania should be submitted by March 15, the Dreikönigsverein announced on Friday in Neubrandenburg. The award, which is financed by a foundation and has been awarded since 1994, is intended to recognize citizenship, voluntary commitment and resourcefulness in the field of social work, as the association's chairman and former state parliament president Rainer Prachtl said.

Last year, a couple from the Neubrandenburg region were honored for their outstanding service in developing the rescue dog system in the north-east. The award ceremony should be in Neubrandenburg in early summer.

The Siemerling family was a respected family of pharmacists, doctors and bankers in Neubrandenburg, who had been socially committed since the 18th century. The Dreikönigsverein is known for its social commitment beyond MV. Among other things, he runs an inpatient hospice, looks after the terminally ill with the outpatient hospice service and organizes youth trips to Israel.
