After a scoreless first period, defender Cody Ceci put the hosts ahead in the second period on a play set up by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Then, the Oilers captain stirred up the crowd late in the third period by doubling his team's lead.

Veteran goaltender Mike Smith earned the shutout by stopping all 29 shots he faced. His vis-à-vis Jonathan Quick kept his team in the game throughout the game, ending the evening with 39 saves.

In the next round, the Oilers will face the winner of the series between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars, who will play the seventh and final game of their duel, Sunday evening on TVA Sports, starting at 9:30 p.m.
