Mañueco announces a special plan for the Sierra de la Culebra and assesses with Sánchez the state of the fire

The president of the Board, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has spoken with the head of the central government, Pedro Sánchez to "assess" the fire that has ravaged the Sierra de la Culebra (Zamora) since Wednesday, while at the same time committing "an economic plan to compensate for the damage to the affected areas'.

Through his Twitter account, the president of the regional Executive emphasizes that the "extreme" weather conditions are preventing the results from being obtained "as quickly" as desired. Collaboration and coordination is key and the Board and the Government continue to work from unity", he pointed out.

Mañueco points out that he follows the evolution and coordination from the Delegation of the Board in Zamora and regrets that the "erratic and changing" wind, with gusts of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour, and temperatures of more than 30 degrees "make extinction difficult".

The flames, he points out, have come "to jump two reservoirs, several rivers, roads and the AVE line."

"All our support, recognition and thanks to the women and men who are fighting the most explosive fire in decades. Cheer up the neighbors who are being evicted for safety. My appreciation for the extraordinary role of the mayors », he continues.

The president of the Board commits work "without rest" until the fire "is extinguished and each neighbor is in their homes." “There are a lot of damages. The Board has been, is and will be with you; we will make a special economic plan that compensates for the damage to the affected areas », he insists.

At this point, he stressed that Spain is "a great Nation" as, in his opinion, it shows in "complex" situations such as the one in Zamora. «Human and material means of the State, Madrid, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura support us. I thank all the regional presidents who have called us to help », he continues.
