Marcelino García Toral has announced this Tuesday that he is no longer coach of Athletic Club de Bilbao, which he arrived in January 2021, and with which he was proclaimed champion of the Spanish Super Cup and was a double finalist in the Copa del Rey. The technician explained that his decision was made when he considered that it was time to "step aside."

«We believe that the time has come to step aside and close a beautiful story. We are proud to have enjoyed the privilege of training Athletic Club. For us, the time has come to give thanks and say goodbye », he assured at a press conference in San Mamés.

In this sense, he stated that Athletic is "well above" the people who are punctually, like him, at the club.

"After making a thorough analysis of the situation, after assessing the pros and cons, we have made this decision," the coach spoke on behalf of his coaching staff.
