Malchow: Raid on local operator: Five arrest warrants issued

The District Court of Waren an der Müritz issued arrest warrants against five suspects after two operators of a bar in Malchow (Mecklenburg Lake District) were attacked. The men between the ages of 21 and 52 were then taken to detention centers, as a police spokesman said on Wednesday evening in Neubrandenburg. The public prosecutor accuses the quintet of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm, as a spokeswoman for the prosecution of the German Press Agency said.

During the raid in the pizzeria early Tuesday morning, the 39 and 41-year-old operators were attacked and injured with "dangerous objects". According to witnesses, baseball bats were also used. The ten suspected attackers, some of whom had traveled from the state of Brandenburg, fled when the police arrived. Six of them were arrested shortly thereafter, and arrest warrants have been requested for five of them. One of the men is said to have attacked officers during the arrest.

The two victims were taken to a clinic. One of the two is said to be seriously injured and has not yet been heard. The other left the clinic. The motive for the attack is still unclear, police said.
