Madrid points to a "prevariation" of Sánchez's veto as the headquarters of the Space Agency

The Minister of Local Administration and Digitization of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Izquierdo, has pointed out that the decision of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to veto the location in Madrid of the Spanish Space Agency could fall "into prevarication" and warns that »we will go where necessary« to defend the region

Izquierdo assures that today «we have probably attended one of the most shameful spectacles of President Pedro Sánchez. He wants to hold a contest to choose the best candidacy to host the Spanish Space Agency, and asks that it be transparent and objective and, immediately afterwards, without spending a minute, he lies to all Spaniards because he vetoes the entire Community of Madrid and all its municipalities.

He deceives all Spaniards because with that decision he does not want the best project for Spain«.

The counselor affirms that "many companies are outraged" and that Madrid is »the best option for the Space Agency for several reasons. In the first place because the big companies in the space sector are here. 95 percent of all activity in the space sector takes place in the Community of Madrid, 70 percent of this sector is in Tres Cantos. Here are the best technology and science parks related to the space sector. We have the best universities and careers that have to do with space engineering«.

Izquierdo understands that one of the reasons for this veto is that "we have a weak president, a prisoner of the nationalist parties and who has lost his judgment." In this sense, he points out that the other candidacies, such as that of Puertollano, may be related to the presence of the former mayor, Isabel Gutiérrez, as minister and government spokesperson; and that of Teruel, with the support of the deputy of Teruel Exists, Tomás Guitarte, who gave his vote to Pedro Sánchez in the investiture.
