The president of the Toledo Provincial Council, Álvaro Gutiérrez, has congratulated and recognized the good season that the CEI Toledo Basketball Club has had in 2021-2022 and recognized the brilliant trajectory in the 30 years of competitions that they celebrate this year and that has located as one of the most important and representative clubs of the city of Toledo.
Gutiérrez shared with the club the closing ceremony of the current sports season, which has also included the 2020-2021 season that they could not celebrate, and the 30th anniversary of the CEI Toledo that they celebrate in 2022.
The provincial president congratulated "the club and its athletes, not only for the awards you have received, which are absolutely deserved, but for the work you do of effort, discipline and a lot of values that not only serve for sport, but in life", because "sport teaches us to live in a certain way".
Gutiérrez also recognized the work of CEI Toledo coaches, "essential for all the club's athletes", as well as "the fathers and mothers who are the ones who support school sports, without any doubt".
With special satisfaction, the president of the Diputación collected the award that the CEI Toledo gave him at the event "for his commitment to sports at school age, a championship that takes place in the province of Toledo thanks to the support of the Provincial Diputación, and for the help it gives to the youth teams that have contributed to the successes of the season”, as highlighted by the president of the basketball club, José Antonio Ahijada, when he presented him with the commemorative plaque.
The event was held in the sports pavilion of the IES Universidad Laboral, where the club trains, with the presence of athletes from more than twenty teams of different categories that make it up, their coaches and the families that filled the bleachers of the track where they train and play.
One of the most exciting moments has been experienced when the players of the junior and cadet women's teams have jumped onto the track to receive the well-deserved tribute from all those present for their triumphs in the regional championship.
The junior women's team that has been proclaimed champion of Castilla-La Mancha in the current 2021-2022 season and the cadet women's team that won the regional championship in the 2020-2021 season, important successes for CEI Toledo that culminate the commitment to strengthen the female line of the basketball club and the good work of the teams.
Álvaro Gutiérrez shared the awards ceremony with the councilors of the Toledo City Council, Pablo García, Ramón Lorente and Ana Abellán; with the managers of the companies Toledeport and Autocares del Río, Antonio Fernández and Aurora del Río; and the director of the IES Universidad Laboral, Luis Ángel Corrales, who were also recognized by CEI Toledo for their support of the club.
