López Obrador sends "to hell" to the Mexican conservatives who criticize the hiring of Cuban doctors

MADRID, 21 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has sent "to hell" with the deputies of the conservative caucus who have criticized the government's hiring of Cuban doctors.

In the middle of the month, López Obrador announced from the Cuban capital, Havana, an agreement with his counterpart on the island, Miguel Díaz-Canel, for the hiring of more than 500 Cuban doctors to alleviate the shortage of specialists in Mexico.

Delving into this project, the Mexican president has assured that first Mexican doctors will be hired and, later, the same will be done with health personnel from the island given the need for health professionals, especially in rural areas.

"In the most remote communities we are going to hire 500 Cuban medical specialists and that has the conservatives very angry, because they know, go to hell! Because the first thing is the health of the people," he asserted.

Thus, the Mexican president has stressed that doctors are necessary for the health of citizens regardless of their place of origin. "Doctors are to cure people", he has defended, as reported by the newspaper 'El Universal'.

López Obrador has denounced that Mexico does not have the necessary toilets because in past governments a policy of privatizing academic institutions for doctors was carried out because public universities "did not have a sufficient budget."

"The result is that now we do not have the doctors that are needed, much less the specialists," the Mexican president has settled.

On that trip to Cuba, López Obrador also announced the acquisition of Cuban vaccines against COVID-19 for young children, which "have given them very good results." "Yes, they are vaccines for children. Two years and older. More information tomorrow," he explained.
