Lower Saxony: high-voltage cable falls on the highway

A high-voltage cable fell onto Autobahn 7 near Hildesheim. All six lanes were affected, said a police spokeswoman. There were accidents with injuries, four vehicles were damaged. More details about the victims of the accident were not initially available, but no one was seriously injured.

The motorway was temporarily closed between the Hildesheim-Drispenstedt and Laatzen junctions and traffic was diverted. Finally, the highway was released to the north, one lane is free to the south, said the spokeswoman.

It was initially unclear why the high-voltage cable fell. "We are still investigating," said the police spokeswoman. First of all, it had to be determined whether the cable was still carrying electricity.
