Lower Saxony: Fatal shots in Hanover - police determined

After the violent death of a 34-year-old man at a light rail station in Hanover, the police launched an investigation into manslaughter. The man got into an argument with a man and a woman on the platform in the Döhren district late Tuesday evening. The alleged perpetrator fired at least two shots at the 34-year-old, the Hanover police said on Wednesday.

Police have not yet given any indication of a motive for the crime. Investigators are looking for witnesses who might have observed, for example, a possible previous argument on the light rail.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was resuscitated on the platform. However, he died a short time later from his injuries after being taken to a hospital in an ambulance.

A first search for the man and the woman was initially unsuccessful. Both fled the city on foot, according to the police. The alleged perpetrator was estimated by first responders to be around 17 years old and said to be 1.70 meters tall. According to the description, he had long curly hair and was wearing a light-colored winter jacket.
