After the eviction of the occupants of the Bellegarde-en-Forez house (Loire), about sixty cats were discovered frozen or buried by their owners. We learned this from the gendarmerie Friday.

Threety-two cats, six adults and thirty-two kittens were found wrapped in cloth diapers. They were mixed with ice popsicles, breaded fish fillets and iced popsicles in the freezer left by the tenants. The couple was evicted in May for non-payment of rent.

Around 30 small felines were also found dead in their remains. They were wrapped in fabric and buried in the dirt in various flower pots around the house.

As part of the preliminary investigation that was entrusted to the Montbrison prosecutor's bureau by the Saint-Etienne gendarmerie, a necropsy of dead animals was performed. It concluded that the tenants were not guilty of any acts of cruelty.

An association for the protection and care of animals filed a complaint against the couple for mistreatment. They lived in poor hygienic conditions with two dogs and about thirty cats until they were forced from their home.
