Tuesday, a few moments after the Montreal Canadiens had obtained the first choice of the next amateur auction, the general manager of Sainte-Flanelle was questioned by the TSN network on the possibility of selecting his son with the first round of speech.

“Jack will not be the first choice overall. I can promise you that,” said the CEO with a smile on his face.

The son reposted the Canadian network's post about his father's response, commenting, "Big mistake."

Jack Hughes is an 18-year-old center currently playing for Northeastern University in the NCAA. He ranks 26th in the latest ranking of North American prospects from the NHL Central Scouting. In 39 games in 2021-2022, the young man hit the target seven times and provided nine assists for 16 points.

If it is now excluded that Kent Hughes drafts his son with the first choice, he could still select him with the first round of the Calgary Flames obtained in the transaction involving Tyler Toffoli. The CH also have two second-round picks, including the 33rd overall.
