Justice: Energy should also be saved in prisons in the north

The prisons in Schleswig-Holstein should also take part in the efforts to save energy. The "Schleswig-Holsteinische Landeszeitung" reported on Wednesday that the seven prisons in the state incurred almost 1.1 million euros for heat and almost 1.3 million euros for electricity last year. The Ministry of Justice and the state's own building management had decided on a number of measures. For example, the room temperature should be reduced from an average of 22 to 20 degrees. Hand wash basins have been switched to cold water where possible. The duration and brightness of the outdoor lighting should be reduced to the extent that this is justifiable for safety reasons.
