Justice: Corona outbreak in Heim: process against employee begins

After a corona outbreak in a nursing home with three deaths, a former employee of the facility has to answer before the Hildesheim district court as of today. The 46-year-old is accused of negligent homicide, negligent bodily harm and forgery.

She is said to have faked a double vaccination against Covid-19 by presenting a fake vaccination card. In November 2021, she is said to have been infected with Corona herself unnoticed and, as a so-called everyday companion, triggered a chain of infection in the Hildesheim home. If it had been known that she had not been vaccinated, she would not have been allowed to go to work because of a corona infection in her family.

Falsified vaccination card admitted

According to her lawyer Velit Tümenci, the woman denies being responsible for the corona outbreak in the home. Three 80, 85 and 93 year old residents died. According to the indictment, the forensic examinations showed that Covid-19 was the cause of death in the 80-year-old.

In the case of the other two corona-infected dead, other causes cannot be ruled out, in these cases the 46-year-old is accused of negligent bodily harm. The woman had previously only admitted the falsification of her vaccination card.

A court spokesman could not say whether the procedure was the first of its kind in Germany. A total of twelve witnesses and three experts have been summoned. On the first day of the hearing, the accused will be given the opportunity to make a statement, and witnesses from the affected home will also be heard.
