James Bond: The next 007 must offer these qualities

After Daniel Craig's (54) farewell performance as 007 in "No Time to Die" (2021), the James Bond role is currently vacant. In the history of the long-lived agent franchise, only six actors have slipped into the skin of the British gentleman spy - Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Craig - and have their vodka martinis on the Bond typical kind ordered.

What even some long-time Bond fans may not know: the mega franchise is a veritable family business. Once created by co-producer Albert R. Broccoli (1909-1996), his daughter Barbara Broccoli (62) and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson (80) have been taking care of him since "James Bond 007 - GoldenEye" from 1995 all Bond concerns and questions - and will now decide on the next actor for the role.

Producers Broccoli and Wilson want to continue the developments and changes to the character that began with Craig, as they now revealed to Variety. The former womanizer and philanderer became more human with his last actor, which also allowed the female roles to gain more depth.

"It's an evolution," Broccoli said, adding, "Bond evolves just like men evolve." However, the Bond producer does not know who would make this change faster.

The last Bond actor, Craig, also "opened the character emotionally" and thus revealed "the inner workings of the character" to the audience - and that too would have to be followed by favorites such as "The Witcher" star Henry Cavill (39) or " Bridgerton" star Regé-Jean Page (34) to be able to do.
