The Minister of Social Welfare, Bárbara García Torijano, and the president of the Group of Social Entities Cecap, Andrés Martínez Medina, have signed this Thursday an addendum to adhere to the agreement signed last April with the Full Inclusion Federation, intended for people with intellectual disabilities can carry out work practices in centers dependent on the Ministry of Social Welfare.

It has been in an act at the headquarters of the ministry in Toledo, where the counselor has stated that it is an agreement that is part of a program "with which we were obtaining very good results since 2016, when it began to develop, until that had to be interrupted by the pandemic.” Specifically, she has explained, there were 150 people with intellectual disabilities who benefited from it and, now, with this new impulse, "we hope to reach these figures and even exceed them".

The objective of the agreement, he has detailed, is "to facilitate that people with intellectual disabilities can carry out internships in normalized work environments" and can have access to the labor market to carry out a job in which they have acquired previous experience with the support of the Administration and the entities.

For this, the Ministry of Social Welfare makes its centers and administrative units available throughout the region, and in this specific case, in Toledo, where Cecap carries out its activity, and it will be this entity that selects the possible candidates for these internships. , which will last between six and twelve months.

A selection that will be made, as explained by the president of Cecap, among the 87 people with a degree of disability recognized by the regional administration, whose profile corresponds to young people between 19 and 25 years of age, who have come out of regulated training and for those for whom these internships represent a bridge "towards a dual professional training itinerary that allows them to combine practical training with theoretical training", something that so far is providing excellent results, such as 90 percent job placement among its participants .

García Torijano has detailed that the people who finally access the program will do so accompanied by support professionals, who will also be appointed by Cecap and will be in charge of carrying out job training so that they perform well in the jobs where they are assigned and that will be oriented to the development of basic administrative skills, manipulative skills, basic domestic skills, such as laundry, cleaning, kitchen and restaurant assistant and skills related to customer service and telephone attention.

At the end, the Administration will issue an accreditation certificate that will collect the tasks that the participants have carried out during the time in which they have been part of the program.

For now, as the head of Social Welfare has advanced, with respect to the agreement signed with Full Inclusion, «the profiles of between 30 and 40 people have already been selected with whom the program begins in centers dependent on the Ministry of Welfare by the entire region, who are now going to begin their training process imminently before joining their jobs».

The counselor has shown the Government's satisfaction "for being able to count for the first time on such a leading entity in terms of training such as CECAP for the development of this program" and has referred to its work stating that it is "a pride to see how in Castilla-La Mancha there are entities you work for the integration of people with disabilities and you do it in a pioneering way in the job training of this group ».

Bárbara García Torijano has recalled that the support of the Ministry of Social Welfare to the Group of Social Entities CECAP comes from long ago; from its birth, in 2006, with an initial contribution of 90,000 euros, until reaching almost a million euros of financing in 2022, which is mainly aimed at “defraying the maintenance and personnel of the three supported homes, with a total of twelve beds , which they manage in Toledo” and, above all, “the Training Service for Social and Labor Integration is paid for with 691,000 euros, which allows support to be provided to 180 people with disabilities during this year 2022.”

For his part, Andrés Martínez stressed that "this agreement demonstrates a firm belief in the capabilities of a group that is called to participate in the labor market, as the Ministry of Social Welfare always demonstrates in all its social action policies on people with disability", and also supposes, has added "a commitment to a model of inclusion that makes these young people participate in the framework of fundamental rights".
