IMF expects the German economy to contract by 0.1 percent in 2023

The leading German economic research institutes assess the situation differently. At the beginning of April they raised their economic forecast for this year to plus 0.3 percent.

The IMF is now predicting growth of 0.8 percent for the euro zone, after 0.7 percent in January. For the global economy, the IMF expects growth of 2.8 percent, after 2.9 percent in the previous estimate. According to previous and current figures, the Chinese economy is growing by 5.2 percent.

The forecast for Russia has been raised significantly: Here, the IMF expects growth of 0.7 percent, 0.3 percentage points more than in January, despite the costs of the attack on Ukraine and the western sanctions.
