Ice hockey: EHC equalizes DEL playoff quarterfinals against Bremerhaven

Top favorite EHC Red Bull Munich equalized the quarter-final playoff series of the German Ice Hockey League against the Fischtown Pinguins with an energetic performance. On Wednesday, the sovereign main round winner scored 3:1 (1:1, 0:0, 2:0) in Bremerhaven, the second win in the best-of-seven series, in which four wins are necessary to reach the semi-finals. Munich had surprisingly lost the first two games against the outsider.

Three days after the 7:1 spectacle in Munich, coach Don Jackson's team had a lot more trouble this time, but fought their way back into the game after Christian Wejse (5th minute) fell behind early on. "Bremerhaven made it super difficult for us again," said Munich striker Yasin Ehliz appreciatively.

Trevor Parkes (14th) equalized in the first third with a majority for Munich. With his 105th goal for EHC, the Canadian overtook former national team captain Michael Wolf and is now the club's sole record goalscorer.

In the final section, national strikers Patrick Hager (47') and Austin Ortega (48') made the decision with a converted penalty. The 2:2 in the series makes it clear that there will definitely be another game in Bremerhaven on Sunday. The EHC can take the lead for the first time on Friday (7:30 p.m.) at home.
