I-95 Northbound Closed in Delaware by Serious Crash for Hours

As a result of a serious accident, all lanes on Interstate 95 Northbound in New Castle County (Delaware) were shut down for the morning commute.

According to Delaware State Police, the wreck occurred just after 4 AM in the northbound lanes south of the DelDOT yard. Also known as "Sandbox", the accident happened. It's close to Route 141, and the Christiana Mall.

The extent of the injuries was not immediately revealed by police.

"I95 northbound has been closed at the SR1/Mall Rd interchange due to the crash," stated state police in a press release. Motorists are advised not to travel through the area. Instead, they should seek alternative routes.

For more than three hours the road was closed, and all traffic was forced to use Airport Road as an exit lane. Route 13 was one of the alternative routes.

DelDOT and Delaware State Police stated that the road was finally reopened at 7:35 a.m.

The exact details of the crash were not revealed.
