Home World Cup: "Disappointed for a moment": Snowboarder Hofmeister can celebrate

Snowboarder Ramona Hofmeister was initially unable to properly classify her feelings. On the one hand there was this disappointment of missing the fourth overall World Cup victory by only eleven points. On the other hand, the 26-year-old raceboarder couldn't hide her joy at second place in her home race in Berchtesgaden. Especially since the podium on the slope of their childhood days was the first sense of achievement since the disappointing World Cup in Georgia.

When friends and family members rushed to Hofmeister with open arms, there was no room for negative emotions. "I might have been disappointed for a moment. But the result here in front of the home crowd is dominating," said the athlete from WSV Bischofswiesen after her fourth podium finish this winter.

In 2020, 2021 and 2022 the German won the big crystal ball. This time, 0.23 seconds were missing to win the day and the possible title in the overall classification.

Nevertheless: After a turbulent winter with many highs and lows, it was a conciliatory conclusion for Hofmeister. "I'm just happy and proud now," said the Bavarian, who shared the podium with Cheyenne Loch and let Snowboard Germany cheer exuberantly in the Bavarian mountains.

Loch completed the excellent German overall result in third place and celebrated her first podium since her comeback last October. "Before the season, I would not have expected to be on the podium this year. That makes me very emotional," said the 28-year-old athlete from SC Schliersee.

The last parallel slalom of the winter was disappointing for the German men. The quartet around Stefan Baumeister missed the knockout runs as a whole.
