The failed 2016 presidential candidate and wife of former President Bill Clinton added, alluding to a film quote: "You are so much more than Kenough." At the end of the "Barbie" film, Ken, played by Ryan Gosling, wears a brightly colored hoodie with the inscription "Ich bin Kenough", a combination of the name Ken and the word "enough". This is understood as an invitation to be satisfied with yourself.

Last summer's blockbuster was nominated for an Oscar in eight categories on Tuesday, including the main prize for the best film of the year. What caused a stir and outrage was that neither director Gerwig was nominated for best director, nor “Barbie” actress Robbie for best actress. Ryan Gosling, however, was nominated for best supporting actor.

In particular, many commentators saw it as a bitter irony that the director and lead actress of a feminist satire were left out of the Oscar nominations, while the male part was nominated. "Nominating Ken but not Barbie is exactly the plot of this film," commented author Brad Meltzer.

Actor Gosling himself also commented on the nominations: "To say that I'm disappointed that they weren't nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement," said the Hollywood star, referring to Gerwig and Robbie. In recent years, the Oscar Academy has repeatedly been accused of not giving enough consideration to female filmmakers.
