Help for condominiums and HLM: an announcement in the face of soaring gas prices

HELP FOR CONDOMINIUMS AND HLM. Emmanuelle Wargon has just announced the implementation of an emergency measure for tenants of HLM and residents of condominiums in the face of the rumble of consumer defense associations.

[Updated February 16, 2022 at 12:37 p.m.] Despite the implementation of the tariff shield by the government in order to protect the French against soaring energy prices, it is clear that some households could not satisfy it. And for good reason, the residents of condominiums and HLM are the big forgotten of the device announced by Jean Castex. These inhabitants depend on collective heating, subject to market offers. Inevitably, the loads explode, and the gas bill of these inhabitants takes a serious blow. On the contrary, individuals can benefit from regulated tariffs and therefore from the tariff shield introduced by the executive. Are concerned, 4.9 million apartments in France, or 18% of housing. Low-income households affected by these gas price increases do not have access to the energy check either, an additional blow to their heads.

It was in this climate of tension and in the face of alerts from the CVLC, a consumer defense association that things started to move. Indeed, the Minister Delegate for Housing tried to put out the fire this morning. Invited on the airwaves of Sud Radio, Emmanuelle Wargon announced the establishment of an emergency aid system for residents of condominiums and tenants of HLM. The latter were the great forgotten of the tariff shield put in place by the government on the electricity (increase limited to 4%) and gas (blocked until the end of 2022) components. The Minister recognized a "hole in the racket" and pledged "that the State could cover these" persistent increases in energy prices in France. No date has yet been announced, announcements will be made in the coming days to find out the details of this new government assistance.
