Hells Angels: Trial against ex-rocker boss Frank Hanebuth in Madrid

A criminal trial against former rocker boss Frank Hanebuth begins on Monday before the National State Court in Madrid. The Spanish public prosecutor's office accuses the 58-year-old from Hanover of drug trafficking and pimping, among other things. She is demanding a total of 13 years in prison for him. Hanebuth is said to have committed the crimes in Mallorca between 2009 and 2013 as regional head of the Hells Angels motorcycle club. According to his lawyers, the German denies all allegations.

In addition to Hanebuth, another 46 alleged ex-members and helpers of the rocker club will be in the dock during the ten days of negotiations until February 10 - including many Germans, but also Spaniards, Turks and Luxembourgers. The prison sentences demanded by the prosecution add up to almost 300 years.

Before moving to Mallorca, Hanebuth was president of the Hells Angels Hannover for years. In the summer of 2013, he was arrested along with many other alleged motorcycle rockers in a spectacular raid on the Spanish holiday island. After two years behind bars, he was released in the summer of 2015 on bail of 60,000 euros and subject to conditions in a high-security prison in Cádiz. But it wasn't until 2017 that he was allowed to leave Spain. He then returned to Germany.
