Helicopter flight with her son: Lawyer shows Lambrecht

The defense minister has been criticized for taking her son with her in the government helicopter. According to media reports, a Düsseldorf lawyer is now filing a complaint against the SPD politician for violating official secrecy. Chancellor Scholz, meanwhile, is behind Lambrecht.

According to a media report, Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, who is under pressure because of a helicopter flight with her son, has been reported by a lawyer. The Düsseldorf lawyer justifies his ad with an initial suspicion of breach of official secrecy and violation of other official duties, reported the portal "The Pioneer", citing the lawyer.

He accuses the SPD politician of having written on her private Instagram account about a visit to a "top secret" unit in connection with her controversial flight. According to the lawyer, such a designation of the unit already fulfills the suspicion of the betrayal of official secrets, reported "The Pioneer". The same can apply to the publication of photos.

The complaint went to the public prosecutor's office in Berlin. Lambrecht has been criticized because on Wednesday before Easter, accompanied by her son, she traveled from Berlin in a government helicopter to visit the troops in Schleswig-Holstein. Then she went on holiday to Sylt with her 21-year-old son. According to the Ministry of Defense, such a journey is permitted, so Lambrecht has assumed the costs as required.

Criticism of Lambrecht's behavior came primarily from the Union. Chancellor Olaf Scholz has backed Lambrecht. "I am very sure that if you look back at the election period in three years, it will say: 'She is the defense minister who made sure that the Bundeswehr is finally properly equipped,'" Scholz told the news portal t-online. He knows the laws of the media: "I'm happy to focus on one or one. But I also know that that's going to change again."

Lambrecht himself commented again on her son's flight in the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung". She can "understand that this is causing criticism" and will "make sure that there is no longer any reason for such allegations," she told the newspaper. She always "meticulously" makes sure "that everything runs correctly and in accordance with the rules and that I always bear the costs when my son accompanies me".
