In the soil, in the water and in the human body: scientists find tiny particles of plastic seemingly everywhere. An international team of researchers has now investigated the danger they pose. Under the direction of Bayreuth professor Christian Laforsch, they evaluated hundreds of studies. A total of 27 universities, institutes and organizations from ten EU countries are involved in the EU project "PlasticsFatE", which has been investigating the occurrence and effects of micro- and nanoplastics on human health since 2021.
