Gun Violence: Six dead after gunfire in Mississippi

Six people were killed in a gun attack in a small community in the US state of Mississippi.

The six people were shot dead in several places in the town of Arkabutla south of Memphis (Tennessee), the Tate County police said at the request of the German Press Agency. A suspect has been arrested.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves wrote on Twitter that it is currently believed that the suspected shooter acted alone. His motive is still unknown. The broadcaster CNN reported, citing the police, that the alleged perpetrator killed his ex-wife, among other things.

The United States has long struggled with massive levels of gun violence. Fatal gun attacks are common.
