Grun-Bordas - Fernand Sabouret, in his 95th birthday, died

Fernand Sabouret, in his 95th birthday, died Friday, May 27, at the age of 95. He was a member of a Resistance family that had welcomed Maxime Roux in 1944, who was an academy inspector and became prefect. He was a living reminder of the Resistance in Pays Vernois. He worked tirelessly to remembrance and participated in the commemoration for the terrible tragedy of February 16, 1944, the crash of a Royal Air Force Bomber. He was just 17 years old at the time.

After much research, Fernand Sabouret brought back the names of all the crew. He also helped to create the Durestal memory trails, an association in memory of his fathers. This was a maquis he loved.

Fernand Sabouret served as mayor of Grun-Bordas five times. During this time, he also built the village hall. Finally, he was a passionate basketry enthusiast, and was always present at the demonstrations at the agricultural show. He was a generous man who was always willing to help others.
