A man died in a serious traffic accident near Bad Harzburg (Goslar district) on Friday. In the morning on the federal highway 4 in the direction of Torfhaus, for reasons that were initially unclear, he turned left into oncoming traffic at the height of the gabbro quarry, as the police announced in the evening. There the vehicle collided with an oncoming truck. The collision caused the car to catch fire and was completely destroyed. According to the police, the driver could only be rescued dead from his car.

The 47-year-old truck driver from the Dithmarschen district was taken to the Goslar hospital with minor injuries. The total damage is estimated at 300,000 euros. The federal highway was closed for more than ten hours. The investigations by the police and the public prosecutor's office to unequivocally clarify the identity of the car driver and the course of the accident continued in the evening.
