The Amazon company is stamping out its "Drive" cloud service, which was previously available to all Prime subscribers. An important deadline comes at the end of January. What Amazon Prime members should know now.

It has been clear for a long time that the first deadline for an important "Drive" service to be discontinued is now approaching: As of January 31, Amazon will no longer allow its customers to upload files to the Amazon "Drive" cloud storage. It has not been possible to download the “Drive” app for iOS and Android since the end of October 2022.

The reason given by the company in a statement on its website is that it wants to focus more on the "Amazon Photos" service in order to offer customers "a special solution for storing photos and videos".

If you haven't downloaded your pictures, videos, etc. from the "Drive" memory and saved them in one place by January 31, you don't have to worry that they are now gone. Amazon assures customers that they can view and download their files until December 31, 2023. After this period, however, all files are irrevocably deleted from the cloud.

Amazon itself recommends that customers begin using the Amazon Photos service to access photos and videos, and download Drive files to their local device or other cloud service before December 31st.
