Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), a native of France, once again set the fastest time during the second practice session of Monaco Grand Prix (7th round of Formula 1 World Championship) on Friday in Monte-Carlo.

The Scuderia driver defeated his Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr by 44/1000 in 1 min 12 sec 656/1000. The Red Bulls of Sergio Perez from Mexico and Max Verstappen, Dutchman, are third and fourth respectively, making them the current champions. The Monegasque had set the fastest time in free practice earlier in the afternoon.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), seven-time British world champion, was ranked 12th, well behind George Russell (6th). Pierre Gasly, a Frenchman (AlphaTauri), has been in difficulty since the beginning of the season. He snatched the 7th place at the end, ahead of Fernando Alonso, an Alpine of Spain. The 18th signing for Esteban Ocon (Alpine) was a modest one.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo crashed into his single-seater in Free Practice 2. After losing control of his McLaren in the port de la Principality, he damaged his single-seater.

Free practice 3 will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday before qualifying at 4:00.
