Foreign Affairs condemns the violence exercised by the Israeli Police at the funeral of the journalist Shirín abu Aklé

MADRID, 14 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain has condemned the "disproportionate use of violence" exercised by the Israeli Police at the funeral of the Palestinian-American journalist Shirín abu Aklé, who died on Wednesday of a gunshot to the head during his coverage of a clash between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank.

"The scenes experienced are totally unacceptable," Foreign Affairs warned in a publication on its Twitter profile, collected by Europa Press, referring to what happened this Friday in Jerusalem, when the Israeli security forces beat the pallbearers with the mortal remains of the journalist as soon as the coffin was removed from the French Hospital of San Luis.

Likewise, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded "a transparent investigation into the events that led to the death" of Abu Aklé--Al Jazeera journalist--, who was finally buried this Friday in a cemetery on the outskirts of the old neighborhood of the Old City of Jerusalem.

For the moment, Israel has admitted the possibility that the journalist was killed by a shot fired by its own forces, but has explained that it could not reach any conclusion without the bullet that killed the reporter, in the possession of the Palestinian Prosecutor's Office.
