After the surprise victory of the Moroccan team in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, several hundred fans in Berlin celebrated exuberantly on Saturday. Shortly after the 1-0 win against Portugal, according to the police, Morocco fans held a victory party with around 300 to 400 people in the Neukölln district of Berlin. A spokesman for the police situation service said the celebration in Sonnenallee was not going as well as the police imagined. Several officers were on duty. According to the police, fans also lit firecrackers. This is actually only allowed on New Year's Eve or with a special permit.

Celebrations also took place at Alexanderplatz. According to the police, around 80 to 100 people had gathered there.
