The investigations against the former Ahr district administrator Jürgen Pföhler (CDU) are the topic of the next meeting of the committee of inquiry into the flood disaster on January 13th. The interrogation by the Koblenz public prosecutor's office on this subject, which was actually planned for Friday (December 16), had been postponed due to illness.

Investigations are being carried out against Pföhler and a member of the district's crisis management team because of the initial suspicion of negligent homicide and negligent bodily harm in office through omission. Pföhler had denied the allegations.

According to the public prosecutor, the events in connection with the death of twelve residents of the Lebenshilfehaus in Sinzig are also the subject of these proceedings. It is also about sufficient warnings and measures.

In addition, on January 13, the head of the police situation center in the Ministry of the Interior and a witness to the police helicopter videos from the flood night are to be heard, as committee chairman Martin Haller (SPD) said on Friday in Mainz. It will also be about offers of help from private helpers and their coordination.

At least 134 people died in the Ahr Valley in the flood disaster from July 14 to 15, 2021.
