Fisterra and Gata: This is how the electric bicycles brand Spain are

Fisterra and Gata are two of the most famous capes in Spain, which cross the entire peninsula from vertex to vertex. Now they give their name to the first two models of electric bicycles of the leading Spanish brand of electric mopeds Velca. "The name Fisterra symbolizes that the brand is ready to reach the end of the world and begin its internationalization process," explains Sergio Soler, Design Director at Velca. It is also a nod to the Galician origins of some of the firm's founders.

Velca's urban electric bicycles have an electric motor and an assistance range that reaches 70 km thanks to its removable LG batteries that barely weigh 2kg. Another of the most striking features of Velca electric bicycles is their weight. With the battery included, the Gata model barely weighs 14 kg.

One of the novelties of the Fisterra model is a folding Magnesium frame, a very sustainable and light material that makes this bicycle one of the emblems of the firm's environmental impact.

«Electric bicycles are one more step to improve health and coexistence in cities. We want to be even more sustainable. The best way to get around is on foot, but if that is not possible, we want to provide the healthiest solutions for citizens”, emphasizes Emilio Froján, CEO of Velca. "One of the environmental benefits of cycling is the decarbonisation of urban transport, since for every kilometer traveled by bicycle instead of using a car, the emission of approximately 300 grams of CO2 is avoided", Add.
