The actress Leonie Benesch (32) was honored with nine European colleagues as "Shooting Star" at the Berlinale. The European Film Promotion award has drawn attention to special talent every year since 1998 and is considered a springboard for an international career.

The ceremony took place Monday night before the premiere of Guy Nattiv's film 'Golda', starring British actress Helen Mirren as former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.

Other "Shooting Stars 2023" honored were: Joely Mbundu (Belgium), Alina Tomnikov (Finland), Thorvaldur Kristjansson (Iceland), Benedetta Porcaroli (Italy), Yannick Jozefzoon (Netherlands), Kristine Kujath Thorp (Norway), Judith State ( Romania), Gizem Erdogan (Sweden) and Kayije Kagame (Switzerland).

Former German "Shooting Stars" include Daniel Brühl, Anna Maria Mühe, Moritz Bleibtreu, Jella Haase and Albrecht Schuch. Emilio Sakraya was selected last year.
