Fall in the North River: the search continues on Saturday

The search continues on Saturday to find the teenager who accidentally fell Thursday noon in the Rivière du Nord near Sainte-Adèle in the Laurentians.

For 48 hours, the police and firefighters have been at work trying to find the girl.

Divers from the Sûreté du Québec were also back on Saturday to take part in the search.

During the night from Friday to Saturday, patrollers also raked the banks, on foot, to try to find the girl.

The edge of the river where the tragedy occurred has also become a place of meditation for the people of the region. Flowers and letters in honor of the girl were left.

Michèle Lalonde, mayor of Sainte-Adèle, admitted to being on the alert since Thursday.

"Every time I get a text, my heart skips a beat, wondering what news I'm going to get," she said.

She said she was moved by the generosity of citizens who offered to come and volunteer in the hope of finding the young girl. Unfortunately, given the high level of the river, it can be dangerous for inexperienced people to venture too close.
