ENT doctor: Does your nose feel dry and tight? This helps with the annoying “rhinitis sicca”

Mr. Junge-Hülsing, you are an ENT doctor with a practice in Starnberg. How often do patients come to you who have dry and irritated nasal mucosa? This is very common and affects not only older but also younger patients. If the nasal mucosa is dry and crusty, we speak medically of rhinitis sicca. Older patients often also have symptoms of so-called vasomotor rhinitis. This means that the nose is usually very dry, but suddenly starts to run, for example when the temperature changes or when eating warm food.
