The 19-year-old driver of a moped was drunk and fled from the police in Enkenbach-Alsenborn without a driver's license. He was noticed by a patrol in the Kaiserslautern district on Saturday night, the police said. When he recognized the patrol car, he made a sudden turn and drove faster, also in response to signals and flashing lights.
He tried to flee down a dirt road but was caught. The 19-year-old did not have a driver's license and a breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 2.03. In addition, his vehicle had an expired insurance license plate and belonged to another vehicle. A blood sample was taken from him.
Several criminal charges await not only the 19-year-old. In the city of Kaiserslautern, five other drunk drivers were checked on Saturday night, the police said.
