A 62-year-old driver was critically injured in a collision with a tree near Esterwegen (Emsland district). As the police announced on Tuesday, the woman came off the road on federal highway 401 for reasons that have not yet been clarified. Two first responders were able to prevent the vehicle from catching fire. A total of 45 emergency services finally freed the driver from her car. She was taken to the hospital with a rescue helicopter after the accident on Monday evening.
