The director of the World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley, has expressed his shock at the destruction in the earthquake area in Turkey. "This is absolutely incredible," Beasley said in a video he shared on Twitter showing him in Antakya.

No matter how many times you watch it on TV, until you see it for yourself it is impossible to imagine the extent of the devastation. Antakya was a city of 1.5 million people, Beasley wrote. "Now it's a ghost town. There's only one way to describe it: apocalyptic." None of the residents have a home anymore.

Antakya, in southern Turkey near the Syrian border, is one of the places that suffered the most from the devastating February 6 earthquake. Almost three weeks after the earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border area, the number of confirmed fatalities is now more than 50,000.
