The body of a 31-year-old woman was found in the Striesen district of Dresden. The alleged perpetrator is also no longer alive. A 29-year-old friend of the woman is said to have killed her with a knife in her apartment, prosecutors said on Friday. When the police got to him on Friday morning, he jumped out of the window of his fifth-floor apartment in Dresden-Prohlis. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. He died there, the police said on Friday evening.

Emergency services found the dead woman in the apartment on Glashütter Strasse on Thursday evening. The 29-year-old is said to have killed her between Wednesday and Thursday evening. It was investigated for manslaughter.

On Friday afternoon, the public prosecutor announced that it was unclear whether the man was mentally ill. It is being investigated for manslaughter.
