In Melle in the Osnabrück district, an ATM was blown up early Wednesday morning. As part of a major police manhunt and a rapid chase, the getaway car in Wettrup in Emsland was stopped with a board of nails, a police spokesman said on Wednesday morning. Two officers from the Emsland / Grafschaft Bentheim police station were injured in the operation and taken to a hospital.

The three alleged perpetrators initially escaped from the stopped getaway car and fled across a field. After 500 meters, two of them were caught. The third alleged perpetrator is still on the run. In the Wettrup area, the large-scale search by the police and fire brigade continued on Wednesday morning. The police asks motorists not to pick up hitchhikers and to avoid Wettrup as far as possible.
