An 89-year-old was seriously injured in a fire in a family home in Söhlde (Hildesheim district). The fire broke out in a pantry on Friday afternoon for unknown reasons, the police said. The resident was able to leave the house on her own. But she suffered severe smoke inhalation, so she had to be taken to the hospital. The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department.
