Salvamento Marítimo has brought 39 sub-Saharans to port who were traveling in a canoe about five miles (about ten kilometers) southwest of Mogán (Gran Canaria), in what has been a harrowing rescue with several of them in poor health conditions.

Upon arrival at port, they claimed to have been at sea for nine days, several of them without water or provisions, after leaving the coast of Senegal.

It was the fishing vessel 'Blue Marlim' that warned of the irregular vessel, so the Las Palmas Rescue Center transferred the Salvamar Macondo to the scene.

Once there, he proceeded to rescue the 39 occupants, all of them men, and took them to the Arguineguín Pier (Gran Canaria), where they were treated.

Four of them were required to be transferred to a hospital, with symptoms of dehydration and very weak.

It is not the only boat that has reached the Canary coast today, where at 03:05 hours, according to Red Cross data, the Civil Guard reported the rescue of a boat in waters near Arrecife (Lanzarote).

102 people have been rescued, of which three have been transferred to a health center for different pathologies.
