Because fans of VfL Wolfsburg burned pyrotechnics and fired flares several times during the DFB Cup derby at Eintracht Braunschweig, managing director Jörg Schmadtke went into the away corner during the game. The 58-year-old appeared at the fence of the fan block on Tuesday evening after half an hour of play and talked to the supporters to calm the situation. Because of the fireworks, the second round game between the two neighboring clubs started a few minutes late. Police also marched into the interior of the stadium twice during the first half.
