Demonstration: 1700 people protest against energy and Ukraine policy

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, around 1,700 people protested against the federal government's energy policy and further arms deliveries in the Ukraine conflict on Monday evening. As a police spokesman said on Tuesday, there were about 20 demonstrations across the country. Above all, several speakers called for greater diplomatic efforts to end Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine.

The sharp increase in the cost of living, which is largely due to energy prices, unsettled many people and caused closures, especially among smaller companies, it said. The largest rallies, each with around 200 participants, took place in Rostock, Waren and Neubrandenburg. Demonstrations also took place in Greifswald, Wismar, Ludwigslust and Parchim.
