Culture festival: indie rock and competitive sports: Ruhr Games are planning for summer

After a three-year Corona break, the sports and culture festival Ruhr Games wants to do a program for tens of thousands of young people again this summer. The indie bands Giant Rooks and Leoniden have confirmed for the opening show on June 8, the organizers announced on Tuesday. For four days there is a mixture of competitive sport and culture for young people in Duisburg. Admission to all events in the North Landscape Park is free.

The cultural program includes digital art, street art, urban dance and graffiti artists. More than 5,000 athletes take part in the sporting competitions. They compete in 18 sports, such as the European Championships in bouldering and speed climbing and the German Championships in beach volleyball, sports acrobatics and table tennis.

More than 100,000 visitors attended the last regular Ruhr Games in 2019. In 2021 there was a largely digital festival due to the corona pandemic. The Ruhr Games take place in changing cities in the Ruhr area. The organizer is the Regionalverband Ruhr.
